Publishing Triangle is pleased to announce that Michael has won the Randy Shilts Award for Gay Nonfiction for 2008. The winner was announced in New York at a ceremony at the New School University April 28th. The award comes with US $1000.00.
The Randy Shilts Award honors the journalist whose groundbreaking work on the AIDS epidemic for the San Francisco Chronicle made him a hero to many in the community. Shilts (1951–1994) was the author of The Mayor of Castro Street, And the Band Played On, and Conduct Unbecoming.
Michael’s book is also up for the Lambda Literary Awards in two categories, LGBT Arts & Culture and LGBT Nonfiction. These awards will be announced in West Hollywood May 29th.
